No. 01 - How Old

How Old Is America?

The United States declared independence on July 4, 1776. That makes 2026 the country's 250th birthday - two and a half centuries since the founders signed their names to the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.

Two hundred and fifty years is a number worth sitting with. It's older than most countries on the modern map. It's young compared to ancient civilizations. For a country built from scratch on a brand-new idea about self-government, it's an extraordinary run.

What Is the Semiquincentennial?

Semiquincentennial is the official word for a 250th anniversary. Break it down: semi- means half, quin- means five, cent- means hundred. Half of five hundred. Two hundred and fifty.

It's a mouthful. Most people will just call it "America 250" or "America's 250th." The federal government set up an organization called America250 to coordinate celebrations across all fifty states, and you'll see that branding everywhere throughout the year.

Semiquincentennial: a 250th anniversary. Half of five hundred. America's number.

What to Expect on July 4th, 2026

Every Fourth of July is loud. The 250th will be louder. Expect coordinated celebrations in every state, oversized fireworks displays in major cities, military flyovers, naval parades, and a tidal wave of red, white, and blue content from the brands and broadcasters who plan ahead.

On top of all that, the FIFA World Cup is being played in the United States in the summer of 2026, hosted jointly with Canada and Mexico. The whole world will already be watching. The 250th lands right in the middle of that spotlight.

For musicians, athletes, brands, and anyone making something American, 2026 is a generational moment. It only happens once.

No. 04 - The Music

Music and the American Story

Every chapter of American history has had a soundtrack. The Star-Spangled Banner came out of the War of 1812. Woody Guthrie and folk music defined the Depression and the war years. Motown soundtracked the civil rights movement. Born in the U.S.A. captured the contradictions of the 1980s. Country music has been telling working-class stories the entire time.

The 250th deserves its own song. That's exactly the gap Blue Mountain Fellowship's USA 250 is built to fill - a patriotic rock anthem with stadium-sized energy, made for this specific moment in American history.
